Our Vision
Autism Included envisions a world in which autistic children can genuinely grow and flourish within inclusive, nurturing, and affirming educational and community environments. Our vision is a future where every autistic child can navigate educational and community spaces that are structured to recognize, respect, and maximize their unique potential.
Our Mission
We facilitate culture change to foster authentic development for autistic children. We re-envision education by designing strategic frameworks for families, schools, and communities.
Our Values
These are the principles, attitudes, philosophies, and orientations that we believe are centrally important in our work:
We value meaningful neuroinclusivity. We believe that all children have a right to authentically participate in their communities and education regardless of neurotype or ability. We recognize the power of universal design to support all students. We reject neuronormative standards.
We believe representation is critical. We are autistic-led and neurodiverse at every level of our organization. We seek to grow and build partnerships that are wholly representative of the communities we serve.
We understand communication is a human right. We advocate for the acceptance of all forms of communication and work to increase awareness of communicative and linguistic diversity.
We hold that all children deserve safety, respect, and autonomy. Regardless of perceived ability, needs, or behavior. We actively work against systems, beliefs, and practices that abuse and traumatize children.
We are deliberately intersectional and anti-racist. We are actively in solidarity with movements for liberation and work to dismantle the complex ways that ableism, racism, heterosexism, and classism impact our communities.
We believe that joy and humor are essential to achieving our vision. In our work and in our relationships with each other, joy not only sustains us but also guides us toward our vision of a just world.
